In some kinds of tea, like black tea, you don’t even need to use water to create liquid that can be poured over the dry leaves, but for green tea this isn’t the case. Water is what makes everything expand according to how much energy there is in the substance, and without water nothing will expand properly. To Make Water Properly for Match: Add roughly 3 teaspoons of baking soda per cup of water (or more if you want a stronger flavor). Place your dry leaves into a bowl or container that is large enough to fit all of your dry materials and pour your water over them until all the ingredients are wetted by the water. Put aside until all the water has been absorbed by the materials (about 4 hours). Then prepare as usual!
Is Matcha Dangerous?

Another thing that can happen if you aren’t careful when preparing your match drink is having a strong smell come out of your kitchen instead of going through with brewing your usual cup o’ Joe. This usually happens if you leave the lid off while preparing your drink or if something dries inside when you aren’t using it (like most coffee makers).
As long as you aren’t feeding an excessive amount of dry powder to your machine, then everything should be fine and dandy once it has finished brewing! Don’t worry too much about how thick or thin the liquid looks- as long as it isn’t clogged up in your machine or floating around in your pot afterwards, then everything should be fine!
