Is Costco the Place to Go for Organic Food?

When you are looking for something special to eat, whether you are dining out or shopping at home, then going to Costco is a great way to find new foods that you might enjoy. Not only will you be able to find great tasting food at a reasonable price, but you will also be supporting a great organization as well. Many people don’t know about this, but Costco is a member of the Better Business Bureau and has a very high rating. You can trust that if you are buying your organic food at Costco, they are selling organic food that is free of pesticides and other chemicals that you don’t want to have in your body.

The most important reason that people buy organic food is because they believe it is healthier for them. Studies have shown that among all kinds of foods, purchasing organic foods can improve your health more than traditional Chinese medicine and exercise combined. In many countries around the world, particularly in Europe, it is becoming quite common for people to see an optometrist about twice a year for their eye care. These appointments are paid by their healthcare provider and costs money out of pocket, as well as the cost of the visit itself. If you had an appointment on Monday morning at 9am, would you go before or after lunch? Before lunch is typically the best time for your body to respond to the nutrients that you are receiving from your diet.

Before we get into the specifics of why buying organic at Costco is better, we need to first look at what exactly goes into making an organic product. When you think about it, not everything in nature is organically grown. Some things like genetically modified crops and hormones in meat aren’t good for us, and they aren’t natural. An organic product needs to be processed without these kinds of things, so that it can be considered organically grown.

So how does an organically grown product differ from a regular product?

– It has been sprayed with water containing no chemicals or fertilizers

– It has been treated with natural enzymes

– It has been cultivated using only natural methods (such as fermenting using bacteria)

Now that we have that out of the way, we can go on to why buying organic at Costco is better. The first major improvement over regular products is price: purchasing an organically grown product is much cheaper than purchasing a conventionally grown product. Conventional farming uses lots of resources, including water and land, and produces lots of waste which ends up costing us money in one way or another.

The second-biggest improvement over regular products is nutritional content: specifically in terms of vitamins and minerals. Many people seem to think that because something isn’t grown using traditional methods, it doesn’t contain the same amount of nutrients that something that is grown using traditional methods would contain. This couldn’t be further from the truth though! An organically grown product will generally contain the same amount of nutrients that a non-organic equivalent would contain, just without the additives that conventional products contain. For example: take iceberg lettuce vs romaine lettuce. Both lettuces are derived from seed; however, romance lettuce doesn’t come with any added chemicals or pesticides and thus has more nutrients per calorie than iceberg lettuce does per gram. It isn’t always possible to get all the nutrients from an organically produced product; however, if you buy in bulk (such as when you are grocery shopping), then you won’t have to worry about getting all the nutrients that you need from your food purchases.

The last major improvement over regular products is taste: again, thanks to those pesky additives! Many things in life taste better because they add something beneficial to enhance the flavor profile! In many cases though, these things can be pretty unnecessary; moreover, some things (like msg in meats) can actually make the flavor worse by diminishing it slightly thanks to reactionary compounds called amines forming during cooking/storage etc.). Cooks actually added MSG to many dishes thousands of years ago so that they could flavor their recipes better! Fortunately though, technology has advanced enough where we don’t need cooks to spoon out extra flavoring agents onto our foods; instead we just let science do all of those duties for us :).

As you can see, there are many reasons why buying organic at Costco is better than buying elsewhere! To recap quickly:

– cheaper upfront cost

– higher quality nutrition per calorie

– tastier than non-organic equivalents
