Chipotle: Organic or Not?

Chipotle: Organic or Not?

When you think about a restaurant that you would like to visit but don’t know much about, you typically think of something basic, like McDonald’s or Burger King. However, there are many kinds of restaurants out there and some of them are better for your diet and body. One of these kind of restaurants is Chipotle Mexican Grill. What is Chipotle?

Chipotle Mexican Grill is a restaurant that features mostly organic and fresh ingredients. They use only natural flavorings and their recipes have never been changed since the company started all the way back in 1993. They use sustainable agriculture practices and only harvest items that are ripe and healthy for consumption.

What is organic?

If you haven’t heard the term “organic” before, then it might be time to check in and learn more about what it means. For those of you that don’t know, organic means that something is grown without using pesticides or other chemicals. This should be common sense, but a lot of people don’t practice this lifestyle anymore. Using pesticides on your food is a pretty big deal and can lead to a lot of health problems down the line, so choosing an organic diet should be relatively easy right? Well, not exactly…

What are the disadvantages to eating organically?

The biggest disadvantage to eating organically is the price point. Obviously, paying a little more for your food isn’t something that everybody wants to do, but if you are concerned about where your food comes from and how it was raised, then going organically is your best option. The other disadvantage to eating organically is the fact that you can’t always find everything organic at your local grocery store.

What else can I eat at Chipotle?

There are quite a few things that you can order at Chipotle that aren’t entirely related to the Mexican cuisine. When they first started out, they didn’t offer too many non-Mexican options, but over time they have evolved into a pretty diverse restaurant and can probably name every single dish available within their menu right now. Here are some other options that you might have missed when you were at Chipotle:

Shrimpbowls (seasonal)

These aren’t actually made by chipotle themselves, but they are offered as a side dish that you can order with any meal. They are cucumbers sliced up and filled with Greek yogurt and honeydew melon slices. Market Fresh Sides These sides aren’t made by chipotle either, but they are offered by the company as an option to any customer who wants them. They feature fresh vegetables such as sweet corn, green beans and squash blossom peppers cooked in sea salt oil. What should I avoid ordering at Chipotle?

Ordering anything fried at Chipotle is probably one of the worst ideas that you could have when dining at this restaurant. While their salads aren’t really all that bad for you, their menu items outside those mean that there is surely something on the menu that isn’t good for you whatsoever. Here are some other things that you should avoid ordering:

Taco Salad – This salad looks good enough to eat, but it also has quite a few ingredients that you shouldn’t include in your diet if you want to have the healthiest possible life. To start off with, this salad doesn’t come free from cheese which can be bad for your cholesterol levels. Then we have the sour cream which isn’t great for anyone when consumed in large amounts. Finally, we have the tortilla chips which aren’t too bad overall but definitely aren’t worth including in your daily diet if you want to have any sort of wellness in your life.

Chaldea – Chalmers are basically just tacos except instead of being wrapped in a tortilla they instead use a flatbread style bread called Chaldea shell. These aren’t too bad assuming that you don’t eat too much Chaldea shell, but again since it isn’t strictly recommended to eat too much Chaldea shell it goes against what we advise above and below!

As you can see, there are lots of things on the menu at Chipotle that aren’t worth getting even though they may seem like an interesting idea or taste good on paper! Always remember to read up on reviews before going out to eat so that you can avoid these sorts of situations and enjoy yourself while also maintaining your health!
